Sciatic Nerve Sliders
Are you getting low back pain with some pain shooting down the back of your leg? Or are you feeling numbness or tingling sensations down the back of your leg?
You might be experiencing sciatica.
Sciatica is a term to describe any irritation of the sciatic nerve, which starts in your low back and runs down the back of your leg to your foot. There are many reasons the sciatic nerve can be irritated and cause pain. One of the most common causes is compression of the nerve caused by tight muscles.
Getting a full assessment from a chiropractor is the best way to determine what is causing your low back and leg symptoms, and to rule out anything more serious going on. If it is determined that your symptoms are caused by the sciatic nerve, nerve sliders, or nerve flossing, are typically a great way to calm down the nerve, increase blood flow to the nerve, and decrease pain and tingling or numbness. The idea is to get the nerve moving fully through all joints and muscles from the start (low back and spinal cord) to the end (toes).
Below are some videos demonstrating different ways to perform sciatic nerve flossing at home. These movements should not be painful to do and should not increase tinging and numbness sensations. Please consult a chiropractor or other medical professional if these are increasing pain, or if you have further questions about your symptoms.
